We spent a great half day charter with Capt. Chris and wished that we would have reserved the whole day. I asked Chris for action since it didn’t matter what we caught but wanted to keep my son busy. Busy was an understatement. It was one of those unbelievable days of fishing which was only icing on the cake. Chris and Jason did such a wonderful job with our group I would recommend them to all that are looking to fish in the Keys. No need to go anywhere else. One day in April a friend and I went out fishing with Capt. Chris. Despite the high winds, we attempted fishing one of his wreck sites and had a nice day catching various bottom fish along with a nice large amberjack. We also spotted a large mako swimming. ~ Adam Flores, Wall/Belmar NJ
My family and I fished with Capt. Chris and Seasquared. He was extremely knowledgeable and educated us along the way. We went reef fishing and caught dinner and more. We had the opportunity to fish with Capt. Chris back in June of this year (2009). I have been fishing almost all my life, yet I still managed to learn new things from Capt. Chris. We hit the reef for yellowtails and we were not disappointed. The kids stayed busy pulling in nice sized tails. I even got to catch a couple fish!! The giant pod of tarpon pushing past was a site!! The toothy critters (sharks) showed up so we pushed off to another spot and again we’re catching fish. After getting a nice piles of tails, we headed into the 7-mile Marina. Capt. Chris cleaned and packed the fish while I had a beer (that’s a nice change for me!!) then home for dinner.
I highly recommend Capt. Chris and SeaSquared. I have been involved with and around the charter fishing business a good part of my early fishing days, and he is without a doubt, one of the better, more professional and knowledgable fisherman I have met. If they swim, he’ll get you to them.
Finally, when you are done fishing on the SeaSquared, hang out at the 7-mile Marina and enjoy the great food (the defib dog is awesome!) and meet the locals there, especially the better looking half of SeaSquared, Christy. She will hook you up with just about anything you need or need to know in Marathon. You’ll also get to meet some great people hanging around there, all of whom are willing to share their knowledge (especially if you buy them a beer, or two!). Without any question there is only one captain to fish with and that is Chris Johnson. I have been fishing the Keys since the late 70’s and have fished with many captains and with my own boat. I thought I knew the spots to fish out back but Chris truly showed me how little I really knew. Any trip out back with Chris is always an adventure but predictable. We always catch fish and usually catch in excess of 1,000 pounds. Cobia, Permit, Grouper, big Snapper and of course monster Jewfish. Unlike so many other captains, if we are sitting on a wreck and the fish stop biting Chris pulls anchor and moves to the next wreck. Chris has coordinates for hundreds of wrecks which other captains do not have. Check out “milemarker57.com” if interested in a great vacation home. My Family had a fantastic time fishing with Seasquared. We caught big fish, one after another, not a dull moment all day. Christy lined us up with a great deal on our house rental, and gave us some info on where to have fun in the Keys. There is little doubt that our next tropical vacation will be to the Keys, and will include another day of fishing with Capt Chris.
