The calm waters of the Florida Keys offer the perfect venue for family fun fishing!
Thanks to having both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico within sight of our dock at the 7 Mile Marina, we have options for excellent fishing in just about any wind or weather condition.
The Florida Keys are one big coral reef with the Gulf Stream a short distance offshore. We rarely experience a sea swell and actually have no waves at our beaches. Those even remotely prone to seasickness find our waters calm and inviting.
The patch reefs on the Atlantic side consistently offer non-stop action for snapper, grouper, amberjack, mackerel, sailfish and more.
The shallow Gulf wrecks offer permit, grouper and snapper.
And, the sandy patches on the Gulf/Bay side are the setting for
All of these fishing spots are a short, enjoyable ride from the dock, allowing for about three-quarters of any charter to be spent fishing.
Although we certainly enjoy hosting our hardcore anglers, SeaSquared has come to specialize in family fun fishing. Capt. Chris truly enjoys teaching kids the joy of bending a rod and delights in watching our junior anglers grow up as they return to fish with us year after year.
A day on the water without electronic interruptions – TV, computer, cell phone, video games - is a great way for families to reconnect. Capt. Chris has a never-ending litany of fish tales and always keeps his anglers of all ages well entertained between bites!

With out any question there is only one captain to fish with and that Chris Johnson. I have been fishing the keys since the late 70′s and have fished with many captains and with my own boat. I thought i knew the spots to fish out back but Chris truely showed me how little i really knew. Any trip out back with Chris is always an adventure but perdictable. We always catch fish and usually catch in excees of 1,000 pounds. Cobia, Permit, Grouper, big Snapper and of course monster Jew Fish. Unlike so many other captains, if we are sitting on a wreck and the fish stop biting Chris pulls anchor and moves to the next wreck. Chris has coordinates for hundreds of wrecks which other captains do not have. Check out “milemarker57.com” if interested in a great vacation home. With out a question the best vacation rental in the Marathon area.
The question is: Do you want to go fishing? Or do you want to go catching? Our kids know the difference, because when we are with Captain Chris, their arms get tired! There is no better way to get kids interested in fishing than to take them out with an experienced Captain, one who makes sure everyone (including the grandparents!) have a great time — and a pile of fish to take home. Thanks, Captain Chris! See you in April . . .
Chris knows the keys and its environment. He knows how to read the water, the weather, the tides the current, the reef and the wind. He puts this knowledge to use: putting you on fish for an awesome day.
Plus when the day is done, he can guide you to some of the best local restaurants where they will cook your catch and treat you right (just mention Chris sent me).
I’ve been fishing the Keys for about 10 years with various guides and captains, and Chris is among the best. I’ve already had two very successful trips with him and my favorite fishing partner, my teenage son. We have a third one booked for Sharks for February 2010.
My son and I plan on fishing with Chris many times over the coming years because he’s a fisherman’s fisherman.
I had not been to the Florida keys in over twenty years, but when we planned a family vacation I made sure that it would include an ocean fishing trip. I asked some of the “regulars” around my dock in New Jersey for the name of the top Captain in Marathon. All agreeded that Capt Chris was my man (some even had his number stored in their cell phone). Boy were they right!
As a charter boat captain in the summer in New Jersey, I fully understand that you can be “shut-out” on certain days. Chris makes this next to impossible, with his many “hot-spots” and ability to target numerious types of fishing in a single trip.
More importantly, Chris knows how to make sure you have a great time aboard his boat.
I will definitely return fish with Chris again
We had a great day catching yellow tail snapper with Capt. Chris! My wife and I took her 81 year old parents out for a beautiful day on the water and had a lot of fun. I caught the biggest yellow tail I have seen in 30 years of fishing in South Florida. Capt. Chris put us on them!
On a recent trip to the Keys, we were referred to Capt. Chris and had a great experience. Our first day was hampered by record cold temperatures and breezy conditions but Chris had a plan and it worked. As a result, we booked another day of fishing and had another successful day. It is so good to find somebody who has knowledge, great equipment and , most importantly, the desire to satisfy his customers. It doesn’t take long to see that he is going to do whatever it takes to make it a great day. If you are in the keys and want to fish , Sea Squared is the number to call.
My family of friends and I had a terrific time fishing with Capt. Chris. Brought back a nice mess of big yellowtail snapper! Thanks, Chris.
